Is Coattails investment advice?
No. Coattails reports what public filings say, for entertainment. It never tells you what to do with your money, and nothing in the app is a recommendation to buy or sell anything.
Does Coattails connect to my brokerage?
Never. There is nothing to link and no way to link it. The "Your ride" screen is a scoreboard of what copying your picks would have earned; no real money is involved.
Where does the data come from?
Public, legally required disclosures: congressional trade filings, corporate insider filings, and quarterly fund reports. Disclosures arrive with a delay set by law, so a trade you see today may have happened days or weeks ago; the app always shows the dates.
Why does a trader's return look different from the news?
Returns model a $1-per-trade copy of every disclosed trade, priced from the trade date. That is a fair way to compare people, but it is not the same as their real portfolio, which nobody outside their broker can see.
